JACKSON, Tenn. -- Far too often this season, Miles has found itself on the wrong end of a quarter that completely changed the complexion of a game.

Monday night against Lane, though, the Lady Bears were able to extend that misery onto its opponent. Miles (7-13, 4-8 SIAC West) outscored the Lady Dragons 18-4 in the third quarter, turning a halftime deficit into a double-digit lead en route to a 59-46 win at J.F. Lane Gymnasium. Jasmine Hollis had 13 points and 16 rebounds, which tied a season-high which was accomplished against Lane on Jan. 19, for her seventh double-double of the season.

Lane (5-18, 5-9) led 25-22 at the half but after trading baskets to start the third, Miles took control. A basket by Taylor Terry at the 6:04 mark gave the Lady Bears a 28-27 lead, one they would not relinquish. From there, Miles allowed just one more basket during the period, holding the Lady Dragons to 2-of-14 shooting overall and forcing four turnovers. A 3-pointer by Amoni Walker gave Miles a 40-29 lead going into the fourth quarter.

After going more than six minutes between the third and fourth quarters without a basket, Lane finally got one from Antrice McCoy as part of a 3-point play with 7:42 to go, slicing its deficit to 40-34. But a 13-4 run - capped by a 3-point play by Victoria Sutton - gave the Lady Bears their biggest lead of the game, 53-38, with 3:50 left to put the Lady Dragons away.

Chloe Roberts had 16 points and Mariah Hopkins added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Lane. Sutton (13 points, two assists, two steals) and Terry (12 points, eight rebounds, two blocks) played well for Miles, which hosts Tuskegee Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
