MILES COLLEGE RELEASES 2012 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
FAIRFIELD, AL – The Miles College Golden Bears are coming off their best season ever, winning the first-ever SIAC Football Championship game and SIAC Western Division Title, Miles Interim Director of Athletics
Phillip Wallace has announced the release of the 10 game 2012 football schedule. The schedule includes five home games at Albert J. Sloan-Alumni Stadium and one game (Labor Day Golden Classic) at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
Last season, Miles College finished with a 7-5 overall record and 5-2 in SIAC play, as well as their first trip to the Pioneer Bowl.
The Golden Bears open the season on Sunday, September 2 with the Lions of The University of North Alabama in the 6th Annual Labor Day Golden Classic in Birmingham, Alabama at Legion Field at 6 p.m. This mark the seventh meeting between the two teams, with the last being played in 1987. Miles will then travel to Raleigh, NC to play the Bears of Shaw University on Saturday, September 8 at 4 p.m., followed by Miles first home game on Saturday, September 15 as they host The University of West Georgia Wolves at 6 p.m. Miles first conference game is on the road with conference foe Albany State University Golden Rams on Saturday, September 22 at 7 p.m. in Albany, GA and end the month with the Tigers of Benedict College at Albert J. Sloan-Alumni Stadium on Saturday, September 29 at 6 p.m.
Homecoming comes early this year, as the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University pay a visit on Saturday, October 6 at 4 p.m. The next two games are road games against the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University on Saturday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m. in Frankfort, KY and the Lane College Dragons on October 20 at 2 p.m. in Jackson, TN. The Golden Bears return home for the two final home contests by welcoming the Tigers of Stillman College to campus for the first time on Thursday night, October 25 at 6 p.m., then Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on November 3 at 1 p.m. to round out the regular season.
